Jacob Kade Holmes, 32, passed away on January 1, 2026, in Austin, Texas. Born on December 15, 1993, in Port Arthur, Texas. Jacob brought warmth and creativity into the lives of all who knew him.

From a young age, Jacob displayed a deep passion for music. He was especially fond of playing his guitar, an instrument that became an extension of his soul. Whether strumming familiar chords or exploring new melodies, Jacob found joy and expression through music. His love for sound extended beyond performance; he was an avid listener with a deep appreciation for the art form in all its styles.

Jacob also had a strong interest in motorcycles and took great pride in working on them. His mechanical talents were matched by his dedication to every job he undertook. Known for being good at everything he tried his hand at, Jacob approached work with both skill and heart.

Those closest to him remember Jacob as a sweet and loving presence that brought comfort and light to family gatherings and quiet moments alike. His musical gifts and kind spirit left lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to share time with him

Jacob is lovingly remembered by his parents, Elton and Linda (Shellie) Holmes; his sister and brother-in-law, Paige and John Ortego; nieces and nephew, Abbygale Haynie, Chandler and Hadley Prejean, and Brooklyn Ortega (known to them as unk, a name he held close) grandparents Billy and Linda Higginbotham; as well as numerous aunts, uncle, and cousins who cherished him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Elton Sr. and Patricia Holmes, Charles McAdams, and Frank Brown.

In honor of Jacob’s life, a service will be held at the Cowboy Church of Orange County at a later date.

May Jacob’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and may the music he loved continue to echo in their hearts. As Lynyrd Skynyrd song says he was a simple kind of man.
